One week Before Procedure

  • Wash your scalp with a non-abrasive, gentle shampoo the week prior to your procedure. If you undergo any sort of breakouts on your scalp, please visit a dermatologist or your doctor to resolve this issue prior to your procedure

  • After washing your scalp, moisturize your skin to keep your skin soft and well hydrated if needed. Doing this will allow the ink to get absorbed properly

  • Do not sunbath, use tanning beds or fake tan prior to your first procedure

  • Hair Piece – Please do not wear a hair piece at least 7 days prior to your scheduled procedure. Wearing a hair piece can limit oxygen flow to the scalp and the pigment may not be fully absorbed into the skin

  • Any ointment containing RetinA or Glycolic Acid on the face or neck should be discontinued for 1 week  before every session

Day of Procedure

  • Don’t consume alcohol at lease 48 hours (2 days) before the procedure. Alcohol is a blood thinner, making you bleed more. Avoid medication, such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen; these also increase the risk of bleeding because they prevent the blood from clotting. Avoid tea, coffee and energy drinks as they are also blood thinners

One Hour Before Procedure

  • If you are sensitive to pain, an over the counter pain killer such as Paracetamol can be taken an hour before your procedure (We are not medical practitioners; please consult an independent medical advice from your doctor before taking any sort of pain killers or medicine)

  • Your scalp may have some slight redness to it immediately following the procedure; you may bring a clean hat or scarf to loosely cover your head after the procedure if so desired

  • Please avoid any increased sweating from exercising or sports for the first 5 days after the procedure

  • Avoid getting the treated area wet for the first 7 days (swimming, hot saunas, Jacuzzis, steam room should be avoided)

  • Any ointment containing RetinA or Glycolic Acid on the face or neck should be discontinued for 1 week after every session

  • Please avoid any spicy food that may cause increased sweating

  • Avoid smoking, it prevents the body’s ability to heal well

  • Avoid drinking alcohol, drinking in excess will result in slow healing

  • Clients can continue using Propecia during and after their scalp pigmentation procedure. Rogaine (topical minoxidil) should be suspended during the course of treatment and for 30 days post your final session. This is to ensure the proper healing and settling of pigment without interference of the chemicals found in Rogaine foam

  • Please refrain from peeling, picking, scratching the treated area to avoid scarring and pigment removal

  • Please refrain from household cleaning or working in a dusty/dirty area, airborne debris can cause infections during healing

  • Please refrain from shaving the treated area for at least 2 weeks, till the skin has completely healed (with no flaky skin/scabs)

  • If you to go in the sun it is recommended to wear a CLEAN head covering and avoid sweatingAfter the 7th day of the procedure, SPF 30 is recommended when going in the sun

  • After 24 hours of your session, you can shower but please use only water on the scalp. After 3 days, shampoo can be used and on the 4th day a fragrance-free moisturizer can be applied

What to expect after your scalp micropigmentation session:

The pigment will appear very dark immediately after the procedure as the pigment is still on the top of your skin and has not settled in completely. The pigment will gradually soften and some excess pigment may rub off with lymph fluid (that is naturally exiting the skin, during the healing process). During healing, the skin will start to flake and dry. You may feel the pigment is fading too quickly but this is the natural healing process and after 2 weeks once the skin has had a chance to heal the skin will get its true colour.

After all sessions/last procedure is complete:

  • Avoid swimming, sauna and steam rooms 28 days after the last session.

  • Keep out of the sun 28 days after the last session; use SPF 30 – 50 quality non-greasy sunscreen thereafter.

  • Moisturize daily with a light moisturizing cream, after the 4th day of the last session (and also in between treatments/ 4 days after each session).

  • Avoid heavy exercise for 5 days after your last session.
